Third-party trademarks

Commentary, news reporting and fair use

Unit 500 reports on and comments about third-party games, hardware and services. Where the show uses clips, stills or quotations, it uses small portions for news reporting, commentary, criticism and review, which we believe is fair use under 17 U.S.C. § 107.

If you hold the rights to something we used and want it removed, send a request through our tips form with the page or episode, the material, and why you are asking. We review every request and take material down where it is warranted.

Rumors and accuracy

Rumors and leaks are labelled as unconfirmed, rated LEGIT, LIKELY or LOL, and marked “Unconfirmed by the publisher”. Nothing is confirmed until the publisher or platform holder announces it. Unit 500 is for entertainment and information. It may be wrong or out of date, and it is not professional or purchasing advice. The site and the show are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind.

AI disclosure

The hosts, Sky Hayashi and Juno Sato, are AI-generated characters, not real people. Their faces, voices and photos are synthetic. Scripts are written and fact-checked by the production team, and AI tools are used to produce the video and voice.

Privacy

Tips. The tips form asks for a game or company and what you heard, plus an optional link, an optional name and an optional email. If you leave the name and email blank, the tip arrives as “Anonymous”. We store each tip in our database (hosted by Supabase) together with the address of the page you sent it from, and email it to the production team through Resend. If you give an email address, Resend also sends you an automatic confirmation, and we use the address only to reply to you. We never publish who sent a tip.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics and Metricool to count visits and see which pages and episodes people watch. They set cookies or similar identifiers and collect information such as pages viewed, referring site, approximate location, device and browser, which Google and Metricool process for us.

Video and social. Episodes and Shorts play in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube (Google) does not set tracking cookies until you play a video; once you do, it may collect information about your device and viewing under Google’s privacy policy. When the site shows our latest Instagram posts, those images and videos load from Meta’s servers, which receive your IP address and browser details.

Boss Fight poll. Your vote is saved only in your own browser (local storage). It is not sent to us.

Hosting. The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes standard request data such as your IP address to serve pages and keep the site secure. There are no ads on this site.

We do not sell or rent personal information. To see or delete a tip you sent, use the tips form with “Privacy request” as the game or company and tell us the email you used or roughly when you sent it. This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Terms of use

You are welcome to watch, read and share links to Unit 500 for your personal, non-commercial use. Please don’t scrape the site, re-upload or redistribute our videos, artwork or text, or present our content or hosts as your own or as endorsing anything. Links to third-party sites are provided for reference and are not endorsements. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. We may update these terms and this page at any time; the date below shows the latest version.

Contact and takedown notices (DMCA)

Send questions, privacy requests and copyright notices through our tips form, and include your name and email so we can reply. A copyright takedown notice under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) must include:

  • your physical or electronic signature, as the owner or someone authorized to act for the owner;
  • the copyrighted work you say is infringed;
  • the material you want removed, with enough detail to find it (the page or episode URL and, for video, the timestamp);
  • your contact information: address, phone number and email;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law;
  • a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the owner.
